I have this thing with music

I prefer listening to an album prior to the visualization of the music videos. If music was made to be listened to, why look up first the video and only later pay attention to the song?

Naaaa, I don't buy that video watching. Do you?

You certainly have a point, but music videos are just a way to make some people enjoy music that, by just listening to them, they would probably dislike.

For example, get a 15 year old boy, put him in front of a tv playing a clip from Shakira over and over, and eventually he'll like the music. Not because of the song by itself, just because listening to it reminds him of Shakira.
Think of it as a kind of Pavlovian response...
